Hmmmmm.....

Should you be changing the belt if you don't know what it looks like or where it goes?

:nono:

ALi-B 09 January 2006 06:12 PM

Agreed. You know what they say - having no knowledge is ok...but a little knowledge can be dangerous :nono:

Seriously mate, at least get someone who knows what they are looking at and has previously changed a cambelt to help. I don't want to give you APi's phone number to sort out the bent valves ;)

bobthebodger 10 January 2006 03:45 PM

Nope im not changing it, a very good friend is....fast and reliable!

I think he means be careful if you clamp the camshaft pulleys together. As they are not metal, they are plastic and can be broken. ;)

bobthebodger 10 January 2006 07:33 PM

Plastic...:(

I guess a part of the reason why plastic was chosen, is that plastic is a lightweight material, lowering the total weight of the valvetrain?

Peanuts 11 January 2006 12:25 PM

yes that is true, but when you fit the belt you need a third and fourth hand if you havent got a mate with you.
In which case you need to clamp them together.
