Will I need a Remap??
I have a 96 Uk PPP scoob,
Looking to eventually get it decatted, the question is will I need to get it re mapped, and what sort of re map will I need to get as I don't think tek 3 is available? |
any ideas on this one please people
|
Yes it will require a remap and something like an Apexi ECU.
Anyone else confirm, I'm a newage owner so not the most knowledgable on Classics? |
i had a decat for around a year before i got it remaped didnt have any problems but i could have been lucky if you have a look in the for sale (gen) theres 2 chiped ecu's for sale that will fit yours so job done 1 being mine

Sorry to butt in but I'm in a similar boat
Likewise - I've just decated my Sti V5 and am just running in after an engine rebuild. Do I need to remap mine? If I did - what other simple mods could be done to get the best benefit after the remap? |
for a 96 you could get hold of a scott t chip, or scoobyclinic do an equivalent and it is mapped to your car and obviously the powerfc. A remap isnt really necessary after fitting a decat, but you could suffer from boost spiking without a remap//ecu which could mean you hit the fuel cut.
FWIW I had a decat and run it fine without probs for a while before I got a power fc |

For Classics, my research with mappers has indicated that std turbos i.e. NOT Sti's usually run a decat without issue, but it's best to get a knocklink just in case. You will, however, get much more benefit from your decat if you get a remap! NS04 |
so is it just a case of getting a closed induction kit similar to the aps one and then doing the remap to get the benefits....
Anything else cheap to do? I've had an up-pipe already too...might start another thread as im struggling with the usual searches... |
