tyres again....

Boring thread i know, had my sti-ppp for a month now and cos i live in the country where the roads are ****e just had to do something about the tyres, cars got Bridgestones (re40) on and it is really shocking with tramlining and crap in the wet, best mate has a CTR with the same tyres and he says the same with the wet.....going in tommorow for a full set of Goodyear F1's...asked about pilots and the guy said get F1's cos of the time of year and wet weather grip... gonna keep the Bridgestones tho, cos of the huge grip on flat roads...anyone else had similar experiances ?

I have F1's on mine and they are good.

Cheers mate, was at a loss to be honest...had conti's on my last car...similar size and they were fantastic, wet or dry...was a front wheeler tho with 170 bhp, was tempted but never saw a post on here from anyone who put em on a scoob, so read up and decided on the F1's... hope there ok :wonder:

Hi mate. I asked exactly same question couple of weeks ago. Seems that the RE040s are pretty crap by all accounts. I am binning mine asap for F1s which I had on my 01 WRX which would eat my STI PPP in wet. Scary tyres!!! Cannot recommend F1s highly enough. Most Police pursuit cars use these also

Now that is the kind of post i need to see....thought at first it was just me adjusting to the scoob, luckily for me this site exists...why oh why do they put these tyres on a uk car...and before i get shot down for being a newbie there is no way a car should be like driving a rabid bull when doing 40mph behind a bus on a country road, hopefully after bedding the F1's in it'll change... :)

RE050 (GZ) on my MY03 WRX are very good, the RE-040 is nowhere near good enough.

Was told by a performance tyre place they should never be fitted on a performance car such as EVO or Scoob, because the sidewalls flex too much.

Also, did not realise there were 16, yes 16, versions of the RE-050 available in my tyre size - with the GZ being specifically listed for the 2003 onwards WRX Impreza

Hey mania, read loads of good posts on RE70's which i think are fitted on the newer cars, can only judge on the 40's which on my roads are shocking, and i agree with other folks are superb on dry straight roads which i occaisionly get to drive on, but for me doing 80 miles a day on bumpy greasy roads....well... :(
