ABS Light is on
I have just replaced the B&M Quick shift with the standard shift, and also taken out the Turbo Timer though not sure if any of this has any relevance to my ABS light comming on? Maybe something has come loose in the process..
The car has been standing still for the last 2 months, so not sure what could have caused it.. I have just disconnected the battary, will connect tommrow ot check if the light is still there. Where can i start by looking? Thanks Sam |
My ABS light is 'random' at best.
Suggest you check for debris around the sensors by the brake discs and check all connections are sound and corrosion free, ie pull the connections apart and re-connect several time, sort of self cleaning this way. Check/replace the fuse also first probably. Graham |
Just checked the Fuse and is ok...
Not really looking forward to taking the wheels off for checking the Sensors and am hoping connecting the battery will clear and fix it... Though still not sure what the sensors look like.. |
iirc:
They are on the end of the 4 mm dia lead from the inner wing that leads to the stut and then to a head which is very close to what seems to be a serrated or castellated ring, about 100mm in diameter. As the wheel rotates, the sensor is tripped as the ring passes in front of it. Faults can be started by dirt on the sensor or a cracked ring and such like. I still think it could be the connections. Mine has been like it for 3 years and the brakes work 100%, BUT, don't assume yours are the same! Check those connections, or take it to a dealer/specialist like Power Engineering in London. Graham. |
Just found out that my rear lights are not working, after putting two new bulbs in the ABS light has gone away.... :D
