IHI VF22 Turbo
Hi what car are these turbos from are they from a classic wrx or a ukturbo model?

My MY98 WRX type R v-ltd came with it
|
I thought the 22b had the vf22. Could be mistaken though.

The compressor wheel in the VF22 is slightly larger than the 23, which is slightly larger than the 24.
The 22 compressor wheel is however prone to blowing itself to pieces when more than 1 bar is asked of it...some people have been lucky (so far) but many are not. The 22b were either fitted with a VF22 or a VF23, it doesn't matter which 'model' really either, of the 22b's that I've known (5 or so, at least 4 JDM, and 1 type UK) they've all had VF23's |

Jonny...not true I'm afraid
If it is an IHI VF22/23/24/28/29/30/34/35 series turbo then it is roller bearing, they all are regardless of what it is fitted to (WRX or Sti) Only the Mitsubishi TD04/05/06 were sleeve bearing turbos |
humm.....i was under the impression the vf22 wasn't RB!
never had one to bits though :) |
The vf30/35 are definately sleeve not RB.

I have a 1997 model year Type RA which came with a VF22, running at 1.4bar, no complaints as yet.
