Has anyone tried organising an SIDC track day there? I'm a member of the supporters club and can make enquiries if no one else has and there is interest. http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif

eh ? not sure if you're serious http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif

but (because its a friday), there's both the "oval" and the infield - the usual circuit is a mix of the two. Bit like Mallory http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif Saying that, I saw some oval racing at Mallory a few weeks back. I fully expected it to be complete pants, but it was in fact highly entertaining. Mainly because people kept forgetting to slow down for the corners http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif

Whats the supporters club all about ?

The Oval would be great - even Std Impreza brakes could cope with that!!!

I'm with Andrew on that one http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif

My mate was supposed to race there last weekend with his club racing (cant remember which body) but it got cancelled as the track surface was considered dangerous due to building dust etc.

Just be careful of the kerbs on the infield chicane- did anyone see the Formula 3 coverage? Cars totally airbourne at 'take off' attitude. Rockingham have conceded that 'the kerbs may need lowering' http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif
I don't think Scoobs will reach take off velocity though.....
Although a few may try http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif

Hi Darren

I couldn't believe the way those F3 cars were taking off when they hit the curbs.Scary stuff http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/eek.gif

A bloke from work has booked to go and see the Indy cars when they come over in september.I was going to as well but he reckons they don't race in the rain which has put me off.He also said the best place to watch from is the grandstands at turn one or four because you can see over 80% of the track. The tickets are £100 each

I watched a saloon car race and they didn't seem to be using as much of the oval as I expected. Also the infield didn't look that exciting to drive although without driving it its hard to tell.

I'll bring the full-face lid and try for a passenger ride

TRIGGER 05 July 2001 01:41 PM

Rockingham website has speeds a reasonably well driven Porsche 968 achieved - He reached 120 mph on the banked corner then down the straight. It seemed a bit slower than I was expecting - anybody know how comparitively fast the scoobies are to the 968 ?

johnfelstead 05 July 2001 06:47 PM

based on that i'll be doing 150MPH i would imagine. http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/eek.gif

see you there with your full face. http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif

jon hill 06 July 2001 09:50 AM

just got the .gif of the circuit

didnt realise it was anti-clockwise - better get the cambers swapped around (1.5 & 2 degrees are set up for clockwise http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif )

looks like fun....
