clunking when turning slowly?

hey all, using my dad's account again tonight!
as some of you may or may not know, i own a MY99 sport, and the problem i am having at the moment (noticed before... but only really annoying me now) when i'm reversing say in my works car park, and i'm at near enough full lock the car bangs through the steering wheel, quite audibly, and you can feel it too, as if ive gone over something quite large... when the surface is flat.
i mainly only notice this when reversing, and only occasionally when driving forwards again.

another problem i get is when i come to a halt from driving normally (coming to a junction or some lights), i hear a loud creaking from the drivers side, which i can only really presume is the suspension strut or something.
could someone give me an idea of what could be wrong please?
many thanks for your help in advance :)

I assume your car does not have an LSD. Look for play in the driveshaft UJs.

Universal Joint, at the wheel end of the driveshaft.

I think they are actually Constant Velocity joints, before anyone starts getting pedantic. :)
