Surging / Holding Back Sti 7

In the higher gears you can feel the power holding back then coming on, then holding back again.
The previous owner said he had changed the plugs. Now im going to check the Gap on these & check the visable condition of the coil packs.
Anything else to check ??

No boost gauge fitted so cannot see what it boosting like !!!

Boost solenoid ??
Car has done 47,000 miles

Seems fine in the lower gears 1st,2nd, 3rd ETc which tends to make me feel it is Boost/load Spark related Etc in the Higher gears !!???

ANy Ideas.
Thanks
Dean

What fuel are you using? Wife's car did this until I found she was using cheap UL. Once swapped to Optimax, problem went away.

I was getting alot of hesistation/surging above 5k revs although below this car was fine. Took it to garage and found that there was two problems one being a neutural diff switch (which tells the ecu when your in neutral) was faulty telling ecu when driving in other gears that I was also in neutral which then changes ecu to limp home mode with every vibration(which is why its usually in the higher revs) that sets off switch which gives poor performance and jerky ride/surging feeling.

After finding this though then found car misfired at 5 1/2Krevs onwards which found to be that 2 of my piston rings are failing causing loss of compression at high revs. Look out for your engine turning over very quickly on start up. Hope yours is just the switch.
