Xbox live?

Hi all. Got my new 360 on thurs. Been on pgr3 for an hour or so and love it. Was wondering... how much does live cost once your free month is up? Whats the diff between silver and gold membership? I daren't go on live till Iv'e weighed up the costs cos I know I'll quickly become addicted blah blah blah... Thanks.:idea:

Think its £40 / year for gold. Cannot play games online with silver.
