A good example of why a harness fitted to a car without a cage maybe be a BAAAAAAAAAAAD idea.

For what reason Davyboy? Or are you saying if you get a harness you have serious intent and should be going the whole hog? in which case I agree

Even with the cage the roof has deformed, and nearly left the drivers head poking out of the window.

The force required to move the b pillar into the drivers head without a cage would be way less. With a harness you would be kept perfectly upright, at least normal belts would allow your body to move the same way as the roof.

I hope that make sense :confused:

I have a feeling the an impact like the one shown would result in death whether you had a harness on or a normal seat belt.

I used to try to explain the craic on threads like that but Ive given up now. The threads are a magnet for the: "you can do what you like" & "mine was fine" knowitalls. The thread you mention is asking about f*cking three point harnesses too ffs!

So would the advice be to loose the harnesses unless a proper cage was fitted :confused:

It'd be a shame. As I allude to in the other thread I enjoy the additional support offered by the harnesses and presumed they'd also offer greater support in anything other then a roll-over accident.

I'd be grateful for some advice. Having survived this in my old Fiesta, I'm very concious of seatbelts and their effects.

Well there you go.....imagine if you had a passenger with a harness on.

Saying that, only a full cage might have helped there!

But at least with a normal belt the torso would have had some movement.

Does anybody know (for definate) if they survived that roll???
