What is it??
Not being too up on pc's :cuckoo: I wondered if anyone could shed any light on an error warning that keeps coming up on mine.
A box comes up with "IEXPLORE.exe has generated an error and will be shut down by windows. You will have to restart the program" I click on the ok button, the internet shuts down, but I can start it up again immediately, use it again for a while, then the error box comes up again. Hope this makes sense to someone. Help! |
Its a sign from God to say that you should use Firefox instead of Internet Explorer :)
You can download it for free here: http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/ |

You can download it for free here: http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/ But I dont believe in God :D Cheers, have downloaded, will see how it goes. Have got Adware and AVG at the moment, does this make any difference |
Watch out for the browser nazis! ;)
Are we dealing with XP here? What sort of security have you got? Your error could be due to a number of issues. First check that your computer is clean using a good virus checker, if you don't have a good scanner, use Panda online. Next download Adaware & run a full spyware scan. Then download & install Zonealarm firewall. Lastly, go to Windows updates & install every critical update. Panda Activescan: http://www.pandasoftware.com/products/ActiveScan.htm Adaware: http://www.download.com/Ad-aware-SE-....html?tag=prod Zone Alarm: http://www.zonelabs.com/store/conten...try=US&lang=en |
Windows 2000, done all the scans with the checkers I have and nothing shows up.
Doesn't having too many firewalls, virus checkers ect. tend to cancel each other out? Had zone alarm before but was told AVG was better, depends on who you speak to I guess |
AVG is a free virus scanner, Zonealarm is a firewall. You know what both these things are for I suppose?
Have you run the online Panda scan? Have you run an Adaware scan? What sort of firewall do you have? Do you use ADSL? Have you installed all the W2k critical updates? Which W2k service pack are you running? Get the idea we need more info? |

Try opening up multiple windows with ctrl + n and see if this triggers the problem. If so it's exactly what I had..! It was pretty random, sometimes I could surf for 20 mins, sometimes 20 secs
I got the answer from here so do a search on something like IE Shuts Down or something. It was a really simple tick box fix somewhere in the options list. |
