OIL LEVEL

Hi,

I try and check my oil at least every 2-3months but every time i check it she always reads below the low mark! I do drive hard maybe this is burning the oil!:wonder: . There are defo no leaks of oil anywhere on the drive.

Just asking to see if anyone else has the same issue? Also, will it be causing much damage running that low? Because when i do fill it up it doesn't take that much oil to show full again...:freak3:

Obviously i'm going to refill asap and start checking it more regularly but i'd hate to think there is any lasting damage?

Cheers,:thumb:
Dave.

It has been said, not to fill your oil to the top level, but half way. Reason being there is less chance of oil getting into the wasegate solenoid pipes.

It's about a pint between max an min on the dipstick - there will be another 4litres sloshing around in there, yet there will be nothing showing on the dip stick.

Model, year, type, mileage, mods?

A pint a month is acceptable on some tuned and high miles cars. Although not ideal.

First quick check to see where it's going is to whip off the intercooler and see how much oil is in there - alight film of oil and the odd drip is acceptable. But if it pours out, it's likely to be a Turbo problem. Next check would be a compression and leak down test on the cylinders to identify any problem cylinder/pistons.

Would suggest to check the oil every week or at least every 2 weeks :)

My 96 classic with rebuilt engine seems to loose a little bit of oil. It falls off the dispstick every couple of months, but i do drive it hard. Maybee turbo?

is not unusual for hi performace subaru engines to burn 1 litre of oil per thousand miles !
