Audi A2 TDI

My other half is looking to get one of these, anyone owned one, views, good bad etc. also is there an easy way to tell if its 90BHP model as opposed to a 75BHP model?

Cheers

Gary

Had 75bhp one for 2 weeks in Italy several years ago covered couple of thousand in it. Was a nice little car high on quality and handled extremely well (autocar once featured it in one of their handling contests for best handling car). Was a bit slow in straight line up mountain hills and susceptible to buffetting on motorway. But otherwise a convincing alternative to a supermini.

I would consider one at the right price.

We looked at one - not originally the diesel, but could have been tempted by these.

The boot was too small for the stuff for one newborn baby, which let it down. My wife really disliked the A pillars too, as she found they blocked her view hugely, but I didn't have a problem.

The drive was acceptable; in no way "stirring", but very nice to drive. Damned by faint praise.

Quality-wise, I have to say I was amazed. We tried a 3 year old car, and you would never have guessed that it wasn't brand new from its interior or the way it drove.

If the thing had been a bit bigger in the boot area then I'd have been pushing to go for one, but the A-pillar thing meant it was a non-starter too.

Isn't there a 1.2 and a 1.4 TDi. I believe the 1.2 is only a 3 cylinder.

The 1.4 is a 3cylinder as well from memory.

Impressive little cars - you can almost get 80mpg out of the TDi on a run

For some reason they dont appear to hold their value that well (for an Audi anyway). Guessing its because they maybe look a little odd. I like them, but if it came to the crunch I'd get an A3 instead, mainly because of the looks.

Yep, both the 1.2 and 1.4 TDI cars are 3 cylinder. I didn`t think the 1.2 car made it to the UK offically.

There was a pretty good column in Top Gear the other month about the A2 by Paul Horrel. It really is an amazing little car from a design and manufacturing point of view.

The reason they don`t sell well is purely down to price. I had a 1.6 FSI Sport for a couple of days while my A3 was getting a new steering rack and I quite liked it.
