oil temp gauge problem

tried to get oil temp gauge done 2day but met some problem. before i fitted, i used boiled water to have test on the oil temp sensor but the needle didn't move at all, kept staying in 40 degree in the bottom (power was on at that time). and then went to local tuning shop to ask the mechanics. they said the sensor usually came with one wire on the top, but my one got two black and white. anyone know this?

btw my gauge is made from Dynamix Racing.

thanks in advance

There talking about a standard Oil pressure sender !!! Did you not get any wiring diagrams with the Gauge ??

This may help , not the same make but generally there all very similar.

My Autogauge came with a faulty oil temp sensor and did nothing just as you describe! They replaced the sensor which was fine. They didn't bother asking for me to send the broken one back so I guess it might be quite common.

That's a pic of mine, it grounds itself on the block and a single wire goes onto the threaded bit and held on by 2 nuts. Have you been grounding the body of yours when testing it?

Edit: Thinking about it mine actually went right to the max temp because the sensor was faulty, it didn't do nothing, sorry. If you hadn't grounded the body it would do nothing though...
