Chuck, just tell me where and when. Is it worth booking into the same hotel as all you Southerners to save the drive home afterwards, and are we invited to Alton Towers too?

Martin.

chuckster 28 June 2001 10:30 AM

Martin. We are staying in a hotel about a 10 min cab ride from Hanley. Sure it's worth booking the hotel and of course you are more than welcome to come on the roller coasters sunday!
mail me chuckster@22b.com for hotel details.
Cheers
Chuck

Neil n Emma
2 random neighbors of mine
Rumour has it Rum will be coming also
Some northerners:

Michellewrx1994, ChrisB and ChrisP doing Saturday night in Hanley.
We all should get AT tickets in advance, either thru the hotel or via their website, that way less queing Sunday.
As to Saturdays details, none worled out yet for the day, going to see if our cousins in the North can help out there
Does indeed look like it could be quite 'funny'

Hehe,

At what point are you going to randomly pick these neighbours and how do you know they'll want to come?

So whats the best shout for Saturday night in Hanley? Are we going to have to sneak into the clubs a few at a time?
And whats a good restaurant, I expect Indian food will be required http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif
Chuck

ChrisB 24 July 2001 09:54 AM

Best Balti in Hanley is called Shaffers.

One of the main clubs is closed for refurb at the moment, so choices are limited.

Will post more later on...

I went to uni in S-o-T.

How about The Place nightclub in Hanley for a bit of cheese? Is the Void still there - never managed to make it there?

Al Shieks in Stoke was the best balti house we found. Hmmmm hmmmm.

Ahh the memories come flooding back.

Rikki23 25 July 2001 03:40 PM

PS They have forecast a huge black rain cloud to be over Alton Towers on Sunday.

http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif

hee hee hee - just kidding

MichelleWRX1994 26 July 2001 09:10 AM

I wouldn't touch The Place anymore, too many dodgy stories from there about attacks etc (nothing new in S-O-T I know but more than when I went there 6 years ago).

Chris any thoughts?

ChrisB 26 July 2001 09:37 AM

Sitting comfortably kids? Good, well...

No shortage of pubs and bars to hit in Hanley. Depends if you want ear bleeding music or not. All the usual suspects such as Yates, Weatherspoons, Firken etc. What's the preference for you lot?

Valentinos is shut for refurbishment at moment - not sure if it will be open in time for a grand opening by our southern contingent. I will have try to drive past and have a look.

I've never made it to the Place - I was a Valy's person when I was young http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif Never made The Void either after being told you get rained on when it's hot in there (yuk!).

Al Shieks in Stoke is still meant to be good, but AFAIK you need to take your own booze. Also, it's a 10/15 minute walk from the centre of Hanley. Hence, I'd suggest Shaffers, as the food really is fantastic (Chicken Tikka Malayan - yum!) and it's bang in the middle of Hanley. They do a few English dishes should anyone not be a big balti person. It's won various awards for it's food over the years. If we have a big crowd going, then I would suggest booking if you want to eat later on. Around 7pm ish it is usually quiet but come kicking out time from the pubs it can get very busy. I can sort it out if you want - let me know.

Any thoughts on Saturdays day time activities? We can probably string together a few good roads for a nice run if you want.

ChrisB.

chuckster 26 July 2001 09:43 AM

Right, let me get a poll going on the Southern thread, see what the thoughts are about Saturday night. Txs guys!

Rikki23 26 July 2001 02:50 PM

Ahhh - Valentinos that was the other one I was trying to think of. I did go there a few times.

You are right about taking your own drin to Al Shieks, we used to go in the offy just over the road. Never tried Shaffers but it sounds nice.

Put a post up about the weekend afterwards to let us know the details.
