boost gauges
 

hi

thinking of fitting a boost gauge on my turbo 2000 ppp can anyone suggest what is best and where is a good place to get them.

what are the pro's and con's also which is better then anolog or electronical with digital dispaly is there a great difference and benifit to spending the extra cash

thanks for that mate i have been looking most the afternoon at them and there are soo many out there for all different prices.

what gauges do you really need there are soo many different ones for different things but to fit them all the dash would look like kit form the wonderful series knightrider so which ones do you really need

what three are the most important for what reasons and if you could put them in order of importance that would also be great

I got my Guages from Graham Goode Racing.

Best to have are:

1. Boost

2. Oil Temp

3. Voltage or Oil Pressure

can you tell me what it should cost for the three and the pod etc, they seem to be qiute widley priced and i dont want to spend to little and get rubbish or too much and just waste money

is it worth getting electronic ones or are the anolog just as good

I've always used Autometer gauges. Always accurate, a very comprehensive range, never failed me, not a bad price and you're not paying over the odds for Japanese stuff. I've only got one gauge (30-0-30 boost/vacuum) in my Scoob cos I'm trying to get away from having too many gauges in my car, but if you want a useful setup, you could go for:
1. Boost/vacuum
2. Oil temp
3. Oil pressure
4. Air/fuel ratio
5. Voltage
6. Dual channel charge temp (before/after intercooler)

Wheres best place on engine to plumb boost gauge??

on the inlet there're 3 vac pipes coming out of the top. T piece in one of these usually.

Location varies, but in general you want it to be reading from the inlet manifold if possible because this gives you the most accurate reading of what's actually going into the cylinders.

hmm ... defi's are good but common..dont u think..personally i recommend Blitz Mirror Drive Meters, once turned off the face of the meter becomes really reflective just like a mirror...hence the name mirror dreive meters...really cool...getting mine done this weekend ... will post up some pics then.. plus they are a little cheaper and newer than defi...hope that helped :cool:

so really boost is the important one and the others are just an add on thanks guys just would rather not waste cash and use it on other things for the car

i fitted an autogauge boost gauge a couple of years ago and it's been fine, reads as accuarate as it needs to be and cost about £20 off ebay:thumb:

made my own fibreglass pod as i couldn't find anything i liked the look of:D

Oil pressure and temp are pretty important as the original pressure sensor is useless and its aways good to know when your oil is warm enough to boot it:D

i agree thr defi's are a great look but its a lot of cash to spend on a setup,

so i guess you can get away with two then

1)boost
2)oil temp

and the rest will just give you a better understanding of what is going on. but it all comes down to how many you want and money
