Hi Mr. Webmaster,
Is there any way in which you can delete profiles of said individuals who just spoil the true nature of this site, which is to discuss 'as an adult' anything related (sometimes loosly) to Subaru. I find it incredibly boring these 'muppets' as labelled by the majority, invade our site with trash. I would be interested in your thoughts.
Cheers.

Hi Stuart

I know, I know...

I wish it was that simple.

1) Deleting their profile would only entice them to re-register probably feeling as though they had "beet the system" and therefore had somehow Become more powerful! http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif

2) If so many people (including myself) didn't reply to them, they would dissapear almost as quickly as they arrived. The problem is, the stupidity / ridculous nature of some of the posts is too funny to ignore at times!

3) If we somehow did this, it would basically be a form of censorship which we (as a community) voted against a while ago.

I really think that best thing to do is just ignore them.

Regards

webmaster

Got to agree with Webbie http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif

Not being sanctimonious but you will rarely (if ever) see my name 'gainst such wind-up merchants - it just encourages them. I've got to say I used to pop over to RSOC for a bit of gentle baiting of the cossie boys. Crikey did they bite http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif That was FUN http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif

I think we are in the same situation as they were several months ago ('cept we weren't talking B$hit http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif ). Relax & if they are muppets they'll soon get bored if no-one speaks to them.

My guess is that they're RSers on revenge...

Ignore and no replies has to be the way to go, trouble is it's so hard to resist some times!

I have to agree with greg http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif

Personally I find these posts annoying and just ignore them.

It's clear from the volume of replies to the posts that maybe a lot of people enjoy the banter, so perhaps we should just apply self censorship here?

Cheers

Just give them what they want and as soon as the sage advice has been given then ignore.

Mind you some of the banter is quite funny

Come on chaps, lets not form an opinion of these guys purely on the posts. When you sit at your desk sometimes the grey matter is not always working http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif

Ok now that i've said that, can someone please tell me which i should buy, evo 6, sti6 typer or keep my Sti4door ?

I already know the answer i just want some validation... http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif

As long as the muppets are contained in General & Non Scooby Related, I don't mind. If I spot a muppet thread, I can just choose to ignore it. If the muppets start filling up the main technical folders with rubbish, then I would be concerned as I think we would lose a lot of viewers.

Personally, I don't like the idea of setting up an anti-muppet filter because it will take away some of the soul of this BBS (there are quite a few soul-less ones around http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif ). I know we've lost a few good people, but no-one is irreplacable. Other knowledgeable people always take their place.

Anyway, some of the muppet threads have been hilarious! Cavalier? Oh puh-leease. http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif

LOL @ 6SSK

Don't get rid of the muppets, they can sometimes be the most amusing threads. I enjoy some light relief.

They are mostly in good humour anyway.

Why not set up a new forum section specifically for "muppets" as we seem to have dubbed them. Then if they post something ludicrous in the general or technical forum the webmaster can just move the post.

ex-webby 03 October 2000 08:07 PM

SWOLL!!

Now THAT is a Superb Idea!!!

Carolyn T-S 03 October 2000 08:17 PM

I was just about to suggest a 'Muppet' forum & SWOLL beat me to it http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/frown.gif

A most excellent idea !
