**Downpipe**
 

Hey guys can anyone point me in the right direction as i am looking for a downpipe for my 94 classic WRX.

This section has come to the end of its days and needs replaced asap.

u want to get an open neck it gives u about 30 bhp :thumb:
or if u want a standard i hav a 94 sti one mate:D

If your after a standard pipe i have one lying around. If you want a decat pipe, hayward and scott (h+s) ones are good.

Was hoping to keep cost down to be honest, how much would i be looking @?

If that comes in too expensive for me how much would you would guys sell the original for?

The reason cost is kept to minimum hence christmas and just spent money on getting a rear wheel bearing done at subaru!

You can pick up OE D/P's off of Ebay for about £50

Brand new Decats are £200+ I do them cheaper:)

Just de-catting the downpipe will not give you an extra 30 bhp, you would need to upgrade the ECU or put in some form of boost controller to up the boost a bit to get that.

It is still worth doing though as its probably the first step most people take on the slippery slope of modifying and its worth it just for the difference in noise :cool:

Not sure what to do now to be honest.

If i went for a standard d/p it would cost me roughly £50?

What about the fitting of it, is it hard to do? Does the gearbox need to be dropped? How many hours labour required?

Reason i ask - was in at kwik fit who were checking what the problem was and they said that they may be unable to "touch it"...

Russell if i decide to go for the upgrade, can you PM what price i would be looking @?

If it was your own scoob would you go for it or just replace with original?

Was that on the same set of rollers with a direct comparison? Mine got 7 extra bhp.

Did they tell you that you needed new brake discs and pads plus 4 new tyres at the same time? ;) Our clio needed new brake discs 8 months ago according to them. I ignored them and they are still on and working perfectly :rolleyes:

Took my Volvo 740 in for new rear pads, having been quoted £50 over the phone by them. After a bit of prodding they announced that I needed new pads, discs and calipers at a cost of about £500 :eek::eek: If I couldn't afford £500 I could open a budget account with an APR of only 29.8%.:nono:

I went to Halfrauds, got two new discs and a set of pads for £50. A local garage unseized the calipers and fitted the new parts for £50. Total £100 :thumb:
