Slick 50 High performance synthetic engine oil treatment.

Slick 50 High performance synthetic engine oil treatment.

I treated my Na impreza with slick 50 and found it to be a vast improvment.
But wondered wt the general concenus was for the turbo?
I change my oil at about 3k every time and currently use Motul 300V.
But am considering treating it during the next change as the car is my daily driver and subject to very cold starting in the mornings
and I want to offer the best possible protection I can.

Is this a good idea, bad, or pointless?

You like to live dangerously.
There was a thread about a year ago about this type of thing and API said No.
They rework 10 Impreza engines a week and if they say that....

You’re using what's regarded as one of the best oils available by putting Motul 300v in your car.
I use the same oil and would not think for 1 nanosecond to use Slick50 or anything else of the same type.
It reminds me of that stuff those dodgy salesmen in the wild west sold stating it cured all known ailments. :)
There was an excellent article in ScoobyMag a while back, and from my understanding off it, it said don’t bother, they don’t work.

ps Send a PM to Oilman, he'll tell you what's what.

modern oils contain far better "additive packages" than slick50 will ever do.......................

stick with your current oil/ schedule and you'll encounter far less problems

Thanks for the plug mate !! It's 5 actually [ bit of well meant inflation in there] but I guess that only 5 does give us an opinion.

I WAS a fan of Slick50 until I talked to 'oilman'. Not any more, he is very persuasive and I bend to his superior knowledge.

Slick50 ? - Not in an Impreza Turbo.

I used Slick 50 in a few cars and to be honest it made no difference. I used it in golf GTIs and Cosworths. I tried ZX1 too and again noticed no difference.Stick to decent oil changed regularly.

I used it in a normally aspirated calibra 8v, did seem to quiten the engine a little (high mileage) but wouldnt use it in a tubo
