How to trace a mobile number?
Every week or so I get a call from a mobile, and each time I answer it it goes dead. When I try to call it back, it goes straight to an automated voice saying we are trying to connect you.
Sound familiar to anyone else? How can I trace it? Really starting to get on my nerves now. :mad: Jonathan |
Sounds very familiar. For the last fortnight I've had;
07099837638 07046713964 07046714810 07046712189 07046731142 07046731704 As I'm aware it'll no doubt be a scam to get you to ring back I never have. If I don't have the number recognised in my address book it won't get answered anyway. If the caller doesn't leave a message then it's not important either. The same goes for any number witheld, it doesn't get answered. |
sounding like an auto dialer to me. Register with the tps (www.tpsonline.org.uk) and register for their "silent calls" as well. That "should" stop most of it. You will get the odd cockly little ****e who calls and says "this is a marketing call not a sales call". I just ask for their full name and the company details and say we'll see if the Information Commissioner's Office agree with them. They tend to back down at that point.

Uh-oh, you are being scammed. The number is a premium rate mobile number, probably owned by a company in Spain or Nigeria. My brother has this problem too, and has been in contact with the police about it. They shut the numbers down, but they're easily replaced with new ones. The networks don't seem to want to help stop this illegal practice....
See this story: http://www.digital-phone.co.uk/mobil...ssed-calls.asp There's a website to report the dodgy numbers - I'll try to find it... |
If it starts with 070 then its a scam, ignore it.

Olly, it's something different to the usual marketing call in my opinion as it's to a mobile not the home phone.
Try one of the numbers above and see for yourself. |

one of the sales guys in the office emailed this round last week
I've been getting up to 3 calls a day to my mobile from an 07046 7xxxxx number. It rings twice then hangs up. This number sequence is an AOL number to a personal numbering service. Calling back to nfind out who you've missed will cost you 50p per minute whenever. Ignore them |
