i-Tunes

Anyone know how to convert tracks purchased from i-Tunes Music Store to MP3, currently they are Protected AAC format and this format is not recognised by all my other programs that I use for my music.

Thanks for your help.

I've only ever bought one song and the way I did it was to write an Audio CD then rip it back to mp3.

Not a great way to do it!

No matter what you do, you'll lose some quality as you'll be re-encoding an already encoded file.

The problem with your software could simply be that it won't play *protected* AAC files, but it might play regular AAC files, ie; without the protection. In which case, all you'd need to do is remove the protection. Have a look here (here is another one for you as well) for info on how to do this. I'd try this method first, see if the unprotected file will work in your other music applications, if it does, simply remove the protection from the other files.

If it does not work, then you'll need to recode the files. As mentioned above, you could burn to a CD and then re-import, or you could use some other software to recode the files.
