My father is looking at getting one, and I was wondering if anyone had/has one and could give me there opinions on what they are like to live with MPG, servicing, any mechanical failures etc.

As far as I know there were no real issues with this model, as ever with any used car though, make sure it's got a full BMW service history...as for economy, you'll probably be looking at an average of about 20mpg...the later sport models with aluminium interior trim are rather nice.

how much is your father looking to pay?

Not to sure, he was talking about a MY00 car with low mileage.

Probably the best engine. The 535i is a very heavy car with better performance from the 530i.

I agree about the 530i being the better engine, but then again I am biased :D
