Anyone got one of these?

New router time and want to get an ADSL2+ one. The one above looks good. Anyone know different or think there is a better one around thats not more expensive than the above one?

ChrisB 16 November 2005 08:50 AM

Personally, wouldn't touch it with a barge pole.

We trialed the WAG54G (all-in-one ADSL gateway with wireless) and that was utterly tosh. It might be better than the WAG54G but once bitten, twice shy on Linksys kit!

I decided against that one too and finally went for this: http://www.broadbandbuyer.co.uk/Shop...ProductID=2214

Its been rock solid from the moment I switched it on :)

Supports ADSL, ADSL2 and ADSL2+, wireless rates of up to 125 Mbps too. Well pleased with it.

Bravo2zero_sps 16 November 2005 10:53 AM

Thanks guys :)

Dunk that one is a little expensive for me unfortunately. Is there another good one around the £50 mark? It doesn't even need to be wireless as I currently use an access wireless point plugged into my current non wireless router.

Also want one that displays the line stats such as line attenuation and SNR margin so I can keep an eye on my connections issues that I have been having.

Without the PC card its £52 for the same router from BBB.

It gives me a fair amount of info on the line condition (not sure if this is what you're after):

Nice one Dunk thats exactly the info I need and great I can get it without a PCMCIA card as got two already :thumb:

Will order it today and drop your spare one back to you tonight mate :)

DJ Dunk 16 November 2005 03:34 PM

No problemo :)

bioforger 16 November 2005 04:15 PM

Nice stats dunk, the attenuation is a little high :) Still within limits though.

Bravo2zero_sps 16 November 2005 04:20 PM

LOL mine is 56db on a 2mb line so 42db isn't bad. Also BT engineer confirmed the adsl modems kick out far less noise on the line than routers. Thats why I am going for one of these ADSL2+ routers as they are designed to kick out less noise for the higher bandwidth connections. Well in theory anyway!

DJ Dunk 16 November 2005 05:22 PM

I have no idea what any of those stats mean, but its reassuring to know it can do it :D

Bravo2zero_sps 17 November 2005 09:41 PM

Well that was excellent service :thumb: Ordered yesterday at 2pm and turned up today at midday :)
