Selling your Scoob ?? i'de hang on for a while
 

I've just had my auction end after ten day's on e-bay, final bid being £3.300.

Dear me, after well over 7k of investment over the last twelve months I'm dam sure mine ain't going anywhere till the last classic scoob in the country has gone.

I'm not suprised that they fetch peanut's, that's just a sign of the times.

So, mine will be putaway in storage until antiques roadshow comes to my area, sometime in the 'far off' future.

If i'm in my seventies and i still own it, then I'll be picking my pension up quicker than most, perhaps then I'll try it on e-bay once more.

I'm sure it doesn't reflect your car but the best cars are not normally advertised on E Bay.....A lot of junk (Not just cars) gets advertised on there

i think a lot of people check ebay now than ever before - I think its better to start ofa t teh lowest price you would accept and dont put in a reserve...

e.g. when i was looking for a type-r i'd see people start at 1k and they wanted 9k for it but would only get bid around 5-6k... pretty poinltess..
however start bid at say 8.5k (if you are willing to accept) then people will only contact you who are willing to pay that amount rather than the timewasters you get when you start auction at 1k..

People probably think the reserve is set high, and dont really bother bidding.

Put it on with a 0.01p start and no reserve. You can always pull the auction at the very last minute - and this way you'll get a lot more interest, but demand is very low for Impreza's at the moment, so I think however you sell it you'll be saying bye bye to a big chunk of that 7k.

I agree e-bay ain't really the place to attract the best buyer's, however it's world-wide and the cost of an advert with that amount of coverage is well worth it.

As for loosing a big chunk of 7K, I don't think so, It's an absolute excellent example of an early Classic Impreza, of which a real interested buyer would pay a premium for.

So the car is going no where unless it's a respectable price & the mod's/investments continue.

thing is if you just put your car in the garrage and wait till the value goes up
i think youll have to store it for about 5-10 years to get any benefit

I've looked at the market for mine with 107k on the clock and I've decided to bite the bullet and live with it.
My cars bought and paid for, it might be old but it still gives me a buzz when I want it.
I've now got plans for it, as long as it does'nt blow up before the the next service I'll be happy. When the finances come together you'll see it in projects I hope!

I was gutted to sell mine for £4,950.00 the other week back however, it was 7 years old with 102,000 miles on the clock (with a new API engine in it!!! - £2,400.00 fitted last year...........)

5 - 10 yrs it is then,
I shall just keep on investing in the appropriate mod's & concentrate my efforts in maintaining an absolute mega example of an early classic, which underneath still looks like new.

There will be a market out there one day, as has been proved with early classic Escorts.
