Grinding brakes?

I have just bought my first subaru so still a bit clueless!!! It is a 4 month old sti (done 3500 miles), the brakes make a grinding noise when I brake (they have been taken apart and fully cleaned by the garage). I have been told that all sti brakes make this noise; is this the case????

Mine do it at first when it's cold and damp, and it's a classic with Brembos.
Once warmed up, no probs.

You could try different pads?

make sure theres plenty of pad material on both front and back brakes as well. Could also try a few hard 70-20 mph stops just to remove any deposits.

The Brembos do make a mild grinding noise, but should only be noticable at slow speeds <10mph or so.
They can also make a loud squeaking noise in reverse, which is also normal, and can also clunk once each time you change direction.

Other than that, they are just like real brakes on a normal car!!
