I thought you were going to take my advice and drive the car over with a boot full of 2 litre bottles full of 100RON fuel, enough to last you until you remap? http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/images/icons/icon12.gif

Would have loved to mate. But Quality of fuel on the continent stopped me. Just got my Type-R through the SVA test. Was told by the Deapartment of Transport thats its the last Type-R to be allowed into the UK.

welcome for january, I'm sure you'll get to love it down here, just watch out for the bored police who've got nothing better to do than sit on the motorway in a ice cream van pointing a bloody camera at you. The country roads over the montians are fantastic.

Hopefully see you at some of the meets, prepare to ride the roller coaster!!!!!

CyprusScooby 14 November 2005 04:31 PM

Cheers Guys.
Im moving to St. Athan (near Barry I think?).
Anybody know if theres a Shell garage selling Optimax in that area?

Loaded my Scoob onto the plane 2 days ago! It was a tight fit!:freak3: Hope its ok.
Cant wait to pick it up when I fly back on the 14th Dec.!
Have to take it easy till I get it re-mapped for Optimax and get Road Angel!

Was only allowed to have a quarter of a tank off 100octane fuel in it when I loaded it up.

Any meets planned for Jan?

Unfortunately there isn't an Shell garage anywhere near St Athan. I live in Cowbridge which is a stones throw from you so I have the same problem.

The nearest Shell garages are:

M4 J36 (McArthur Glen shopping village)
A48, Heath in Cardiff

There is an Esso that sells SUL just outside St Athan, otherwise it's SUL from the Texaco in Bridgend or Morrison's Supermarket in Barry.

Quality mate! Look forward to it!:thumb: :D
Not had a decent chance to open it up yet since it was de-limited!
Taking my car up to Andy F's to get re-mapped before I bring it down, so it will need to be Optimax for me.
How far are these Shell garages from Saints?

Never been down that end of the country before, so dont know my way about.

I only moved here myself last Christmas but there are some top roads to drive. You need to be a bit careful in the villages in the Vale of Glamorgan though (Wick, Cowbridge, St Brides Major, etc), the speed camera signs aren't just for show http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/images/icons/icon8.gif.

The Shell garage in Heath is about a 25 minute drive from St Athan (15 miles) and is very expensive.

The one at J36 M4 is pretty much the same distance and time but MAYBE a little cheaper, not much though.

Let me know when you're over and we can meet up and I can show you both Shell garages.

F*cking hell!!!!!!
Im going to have to buy a wee diesel car for a runabout!
That will be cool mate. At least I'll know somebody when I move down there. Nothing worse than starting your whole life afresh again!

ZippyLane 15 November 2005 09:24 AM

Unfortunately the Shell garages are far apart.. Can't you run it on Aircraft fuel..? :)

DannyBoy007 15 November 2005 09:37 AM

Theres more shell garages near me than any other!!!!!! I've got a choice of four within twenty minutes, some might call that lucky but bear in mind we can't get sky TV and the nearest cinema that isn't showing "back to the future" is 45 miles away, but atleast I can get decent fuel for the car!!!!!!

Welcome to Gods Country

Beware the money demon`s, they get every where.

Problem is, I think they would notice me plugging my car into a Fuel Bowser!:freak3:

Still, I plan to organise a charity Run What Ya Brung On the runway at some point. Should get some interest for that?!!!

You may have plenty of choice for Optimax but don't people still procreate with their siblings over your neck of the woods??? :freak3:

Anyone heard of Tesco's bringing 99RON to south Wales. It is everywhere down southampton way. At least this way you'd be able to get it at Culverhouse Cross or Bridgend.

Trap2Terrorist 16 November 2005 08:29 PM

Not a sniff of the stuff. In fact they recently refurbed the Tesco petrol station at Bridgend and not only did they not install 99ron pumps, they took out the SUL as well leaving only 95ron and diesel.
