2 Stage ECU

dear all

i have been reading thats its posible to remap my my02 sti with an ecutek
chip and have it with 2 maps on it .

my questions are since i am fairly new to this:

my 02 sti is used on a daily basis and therefore i am not
looking for crazy ammounts of power like 320 - 340 ? since the
fuel bill is mad as it is.

i was wondering can some one de-tune the car lets say for arguments say
to 200 bhp for day to day trips to work ( only to help the wallet on fuel bills)
and then on weekend (click the button) and get 320-340 ? when taking the misses out :-)

i know u can have 2 maps i read it on the ecu tek website.

another question how much more can i get from the car if i take it to someone to remap the ecu only ? ( plus fuel pump i was told)
and when we say remap the ecu with ecutek does this include a new chip from ecutek or just adjust the one from subaru ?

many thanks in advance

CAN SOMEONE HELP OR ADVISE ?

I have also been thinking about the same (on my 02 STI PPP) and so far the best thing I can think of is a electronic boost controler. Most of these allow several levels and as I understand it with a Zero level set it will drop the power quite a lot (still boosts but lower then normal). The next level can be adjusted full power or in steps up to full power. I doubt if it would make a dramatic difference on petrol. Although I can't think why, the only thing I am not certain about is that if lowing the boost this way would do any damage. I am sure someone can tell us....
