Just a reminder guys for those of you booked on the Easytrack Day.

1. If you need tyres for the day - let Easytrack know in advance otherwise the tyre van may not be present!
2. You must have a skid lid or book one in advance, again, contact Easytrack now if you don't have access to one.
3. Passengers are allowed http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif (with a lid) you'll be asked to sign on when you get there.

Look forward to seeing you all there it should be a good day - don't forget to come over and say hello to me (I'll be a passenger in Dave's white STI IV as my WRX is having a rest for the day) and to Colin who masterminded this day for us all (Grey STI V - black 17" rims)

Hi Jo,

Remember me? (Richard) - I was at Abingdon on Friday 7th with Reidy.

Well, going back to the conversation about me wanting to come along on the 24th to try it out with my Wagon! - any chance of assuring me of a place?

I do need to know for definite before being able to take the time off work.

Ta!

Hi Greg - you'll have to contact Jonny or Marcus direct at Easytrack to answer that question. You're booked and paid for already aren't you?? Did you get your brakes sorted? After the trackday there last Friday 7th July with our new brake set up - black diamond grooved discs and Mintex 1155's, after initial brake fade (only a couple of laps), the brakes bedded in nicely and we did the whole day without any problems.

Rich - of course I remember you, nice to meet you both. Have replied off-line but for the benefit of any others, you'll have to contact Easytrack direct, it is ultimately their decision.

Squiz - Contact Easytrack for directions - it is Abingdon nr Oxford - a long way from you unfortunately.

Triggaaar 13 July 2000 12:23 AM

I shall be paying particular attention to all brakes - need to make the choice myself.

This convoy thing needs a bit more sorting too - I think I'll just loiter like an unmarked cop, then tag on when a bunch of you go past.

gregh 13 July 2000 10:10 AM

Hi Jo,

Yep, I'm all paid up, brakes getting fitted on Tuesday, spare tyres ordered, helmet purchased.

Looking forward to it!

Greg

Triggaaar 13 July 2000 10:32 AM

Anyone can go to watch

I've just spoken to Easytrack and they are happy for anyone to go along and spectate. Since my car won't be run in (if indeed I have it by then), I had to cancel my booking, but I should be there to watch.

Greg,
Which brakes are you getting?

Rich_R 13 July 2000 11:06 AM

For those on the reserve bookings list - I think you should be able to jump into the confirmed list by sending your cheque as the automatic '7 day provisional place held' expired a long time ago.

...unless of course you are the Skyline or Mondeo owner http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif

Rich.

richards 13 July 2000 11:36 AM

Rich,

Cheers, I did that and it's now confirmed!

See you there in my Estate! http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif

Rich. (in Kingston)
P.S.
I notice you're in Surrey - whereabouts? If you're coming past Kingston on the day let me know - we can mini-convoy it! http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif

P.P.S
But I actually wanted that R34 owner to make it on the 24th - I wanna sit in on a real-life playstation game! http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/rolleyes.gif

gregh 13 July 2000 11:41 AM

Triggaaar

I'm going for the ProDrive disc + pad upgrade.

Greg

Jake 13 July 2000 02:40 PM

Does anyone know if there will be some where safe and secure to leave my road wheels as i will be bringing my trackday spares along?

richards 13 July 2000 03:05 PM

in the boot if you have a 5-door! http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/tongue.gif

(at last, now I know why they made these Wagons!)

Rich_R 13 July 2000 03:19 PM

Richard S,

Yup - I'm up for meeting up on the way

There may be 1 or 2 people meeting up near me (Camberley/Ascot) so I'll let you know the details by email.

You are right about the R34 - (Homer Simpson voice)...G-Meter...drool http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif

Rich.

gregh 13 July 2000 03:35 PM

Jake,

What rubber do you run on your trackday spares?

Greg

Jake 13 July 2000 04:20 PM

At the moment Ive got a set of bridgestones as supplied new by dealer but its best to use what you can afford I run pirelli pzeros on my 17" prodrive road wheels and there is no way I am trashing them , Rich- only a 4 door anyway cant see myself hanging it sideways with a set wheels banging around in the boot!!

Richard Gledhill 13 July 2000 07:08 PM

I'm there too! Is everyone going called Richard btw?

I'll be sorted on some cheapo £45/corner 205/50/16s for track day use too - be interesting to see how they compare to my standard RE-010s.

I'm coming from Cambridge... anyone else heading from here?

Cheers
Richard

Some good pre-track day reading in these 2 locations:

1 my web site, nicked with permission from a post by John Felstead:

simo 14 July 2000 03:46 PM

richard,

i/m going from MK and Gazzer is from St neots area, both on the way (sort of) http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif for you!!)

simon

Richard Gledhill 15 July 2000 03:00 PM

Not sure which route I'm taking yet, so I'll probably head over by myself. Convoy for a bit on the way back maybe!

Found a picture of the circuit if anyone's interested...

http://home.freeuk.net/ngmcc/images/abingdon.gif

It's from this page:

Stef 15 July 2000 03:23 PM

Richard.

The second one is indeed correct, though they may be using the larger circuit for us.
I hope it is the one you show, as that looks like much more fun! http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif

Stef.

kryten 17 July 2000 09:52 AM

i take it you'll all be there all day?

i live in swindon so abingdon isn't too far and I may come along to watch for a bit (AXA refused insurance cover - roll on renewal in september!)

As for the 'playstation': westmead nissan in swindon have a skyline at the moment - think I might go for a play sometime this week http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif

Richard Gledhill 17 July 2000 04:13 PM

Yep, we'll be there all day.

Stef: I think if it were the first one, we'd have no brakes left at the end of that main straight! Except for you AP-assisted folk of course http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif

See you there...

Richard

Jo Peters 18 July 2000 09:05 PM

Jake - We're taking a spare set of wheels as is Stef (I think) and Rich_R (I think) as we should all be running on slicks http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif

We've been to Abingdon twice now and because it is MOD, your wheels and tyres are pretty safe being left on the pitlane area.

The second map shown above is indeed correct. To give you all some idea, last week (on road tyres not slicks) we were hitting 110mph from the pitlane straight to the first corner, the next straight we reached 105mph and on the bottom straight (running alongside the runway) we hit around 100mph.

These speeds were of course achieved without us racing, competing or time trialling as this is not allowed, but were merely noted on the camcorder which happened to be looking at the speedo at the time http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif

Richard S - glad to see you got in. See you there next week.

Jo http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif

gregh 18 July 2000 09:09 PM

Slicks, not fair!

Hope it rains! http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif

discs and pads fitted today, looking forward to it!

Greg

Jake 19 July 2000 12:43 AM

Jo- what kind of tyre wear can we expect at abingdon how abrasive is the surface??

Jo Peters 19 July 2000 07:50 AM

Greg - rain hmmm.... more fun http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif

Glad you've got the brakes sorted. Don't forget to come over and say hello.

Jo http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif
