But we had a track day there this Sunday with instructors, etc, and it only cost £85!
Why the difference?

Stef.

There's a track day this Friday 19 May at Snetterton, run by RMA Ltd, there are limited no. of places left at £150.00 open pit lane all day. Coaching from professional drivers available.

Stef, you know the answer to that one... profit my boy, profit. No doubt they will claim that they have less cars and therefore higher cost, but how long did you have to wait to get out on Sunday. I think they had best part of 90 cars there, and they only queues were at the very beginning of the sessions.

RMA are the UK's leading commercial track club who have been providers of track days for 12 years. The full cost of this day is £245.00. At present there are about 30 cars booked on. So there will be plenty of uncrowded track time and Definately No Queueing!
The car entry list consists of mainly Porsche Ferrari and Lotus.

Full cost of £245 for a track day... that's a fiver short(ish) of what it would cost to go on a MIRA wet handling day if you shared the free place amongst 7 of you! I know where I would have more fun and learn more.... and with less chance of meeting the scenery heavily... and practically zero chance of meeting another car in an expensive way!

So the normal cost is £245, but you obviously have been unable to fill the places, so you now offer them at £150! Still twice what we paid to do the same track with Darin, and I had no complaints about the amount of track time, which was as much as I wanted!

JamesH 16 May 2000 08:26 AM

Well I certainly had no problems with the amount of time on track. 150+ track miles equates to about 90 laps & at (a rough & unofficial) 1.30 - 1.35 lap means over 2.5 hrs http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif

Mind you £55 of Super brings the price up to the same @ £150. Petrol is included ? http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif

A bad day trackside beats a good day at work!

So, I have just (this morning) reserved a place at this event

Is anyone else from this SIDC/Scoobynet going? If so see you there.

There were no other Scoobies in attendance but otherwise Friday was a thoroughly enjoyable day at Snetterton.

It was sunshine and showers all day - one particulary heavy downpour resulted in red flags for 15 minutes but otherwise the circuit was in constant use with a high standard of driving and some interesting machinery including a Maserati 250F Grand Prix car and a Prosport 3000 - in which I was lucky enough to enjoys a few laps as a passenger (320bhp Vs. 770kgs = big cheesy grin).

I completed over 130 track miles which suited me in my unmodified MY00 perfectly but with only 25 cars there, the track was never busy and some who I spoke to had taken the opportunity to do twice that.

This was my first encounter with RMA and they appear to be a thouroughly well run organisation. Their full 'Paddock Club' members can choose to take part in as many as 26 trackdays spread throughout the year for a single annual membership fee. Check out their website for details.

Stephen
