Hello folks.

Well... it seems that I will be staying down in Cambridge for the next 5 weeks. I'm one of those horrible computer consultant types and I happen to be working for Microsoft at the moment.

I know for a fact there are at least 2 other scoobies in the Cambridge area...I've spoken to one guy (doh..can't remember your name...too cold on top of carpark...brain gone numb).

So...heres what I propose...Post to this thread....we'll figure out when people are available and we'll get together for some grub and a drink.

I'm guessing the best place to do this is on the outskirts because they don't seem to like cars (£16 a day for parking is talking the pi$$).

I'll be waiting...(I've got bugger all else to do on a night - oh apart from watch DVDs on mi laptop http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif)

Cheers

T'was me on top of the car park in Cambridge! £16 does seem a lot - you must have been there all day. Look on it as the cost of your free admission to the college grounds - except of course King's College where we all have to pay- even us locals!
Like your idea for a beer; can't do Tuesday or Wednesday. As for a venue, I live on the north side of Cambridge, so I can suggest a couple of pubs in Fen Ditton - one is olde worlde; the other is on the river and family orientated, more for eating than drinking (but it does have a decent sized car park). Fen Ditton is about 10-15 minutes from Cambridge town centre.

Ian,

I work in Sawston but live over nr Biggleswade and would also be up for a meet sometime. After work sounds good most days OK lets us know.

Now then!
I live about 10 mile west of Cambridge, so
I'm certainly up for beers and scran.
Unfortunately I can't make it until end of next week - so if you fancy going out again - count me in!

Ian

Assume you're still working in the area and assume you're still up for a pint or three in or around Cambridge.

Any decision where to meet?

igratton 12 April 2000 10:50 AM

Hi folks...still in cambridge (seems I'll be here until the end of may)

I've not checked this post for ages with the bbs being down and all (plus having to check bbs.22b.com,

GMAY 12 April 2000 02:10 PM

Ian,
I also live in Milton! Check your e-mail for my phone number. Re:where to meet, see my post of 20 March. Fen Ditton is about 5 minutes from Milton (go east along A14, first exit, turn right at traffic lights, Fen Ditton is about 1/4 mile along road towards Cambridge). The two pubs I know are "The Ancient Sheperd" and "The Plough". Both are reached by turning right (opposite a pub)once in the village. The first pub is on the left, the second is reached by following the road round to the right and driving to the end. Now we have to decide which pub...

dholmes 13 April 2000 01:07 PM

I could be up for it. Keep me posted.

Dave Mackey 13 April 2000 05:32 PM

Any day next week except Wednesday and Fen Ditton sounds good to me.

igratton 13 April 2000 05:50 PM

So far so good...

Takers for next week are as follows

Me (it would be bad if I didn't come seen as I started things off)

Grahame (GMAY)

Dave Mackey

Venue will be a pub in Fen Ditton early next week.

Any other takers ?

Cheers

Ian

GMAY 14 April 2000 02:17 PM

Ian,

As it looks a goer, can I suggest we meet on Tuesday at The Plough in Fen Ditton. Check my previous post for directions - come into the village and turn into the road called "High Street". This road is opposite a pub on the main road which runs through the village. Go along "High Street" and take the right fork at the war memorial. Drive to the end and into the pub carpark (space for 80 cars). The pub has a restaurant section (Harvester type set-up) and outside seating next to the river. If we want to check each other's pride and joy in the daylight, shall we go for 7 - 7.15?

Sorry peeps

Crap day / crap traffic / bad mood & wife got the hump too http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/frown.gif

Hope you had a good time.

In fact, you're probably all still there. DOH.

Next time....

dholmes 18 April 2000 11:06 PM

Hi,

Very enjoyable evening. Nice to put a names to faces.

Interesting drive back, 85mph along the 4 lane empty A1 (M) and was passed by a Marked T5 Police car doing approx. 30 mph more than me with NO flashing lights.

Obviously the driver's wife had rang the station to radio him with the news that her waters had just broken. So I suppose that's OK then.

Look forward to the next one. Hope Richard, Simo and the rest at the last meet can make this time.

Darren

GMAY 19 April 2000 09:18 AM

Ian,

Hope you got back OK. I think I gave you bum directions!!! Thought we had a good turnout - six scoobies on the night.

For the next gathering, maybe people can give their preferences re: which night suits them best. For me, Monday or Thursday is probably better.

Grahame

igratton 19 April 2000 09:58 AM

Hi there folks...

thanks for the turn out...its true...there are more than two scoobies in Cambridge http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif

Grahame....got back no problems....went back the histon road way...

My poor old scooby is parked up again for a few days...nowhere to drive to. Can't wait for the blast home on thursday night http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif

Hope to see you all at the next one.

Ian
