Weird lag problem on MY99 UK wagon

Hi guys,

Hoping you can help, I have had this car since July and have been enjoying it, has FSH etc and now has 54K, recent oil service etc, good condition.

I have done about 2.5k miles in it and it has been faultless except...

twice now when I have been giving it a bit of stick and has not performed how I would imagine, I will try to explain:

holding revs in say second @ approx 3k revs and then putting my foot down, basically not much happens, it revs cleanly through to 6/7k rpm but does not seem to accelerate as it should, feels like lag but can't be, can it? btw this is the first time I have owned a turbocharged car so am still learning.

Anyone have any ideas? Thanks, hope this makes sense?!

Yeah the ecu has that programmed in to get around the noise regs as that is the senario of the drive by noise test.

:)

strange but true.

when I bought this car I swore I would not tinker...but the temptation is getting to me, is it worth it and what would you recommend to keep reliability and consumption etc

You can easily drive around it. Briefly release throttle and then floor it - problem solved :D
It used to catch me out all the time :)

oh yea because scoobys are known for being really quiet you muppet.really mate thats bull**** man,i know you knew about mapping&**** when you was on earth but that is absolute bull****.
that is how the boosted boxer works best hold it steady @around 3k rpm and it will not have any lag
at all.unless your in 4th or 5th at low revs
the reason you win more races when your infront not the car behind
lag is lets say when some ****er in a 1 litre corsa in front of you fancys a play and pulls away from your wrx because your in either 3rd or 4th gear and he catches you off boost&tells his mates he beat an impreza.
ecu has **** all to do with the noise chap, the standard peashooter backbox does
lmfao
know it all your just trying to sell him a map

This is a fourteen year old thread, the guy you are quoting is now sadly deceased so won't be replying to defend himself but I can assure he was never about just selling maps. JGM was one of the most respected mappers on here and was constantly helping people out with advice that he could have easily charged for.
