De-Tangoed the wife's motor :)

After much deliberation I decided to de-tango the wife's wrx.
So Tuesday nite it was Hell's Kitchen as the lights were removed and placed in the oven at gas mark 3 for 6 mins each, turning occassionally not forgetting to baste them in their own juices :)

Really like the look of the front end now ;)

Jim, it's a UK 05my WRX :) Slightly modified ;)
Had it on the rollers about 4 weeks ago and was very happy with the results.
271bhp / 270 lbft

Cheers for the kind comments

Such an improvement, and just for the cost of some silvertech bulbs, and some gas :)

So much better, can't work out why Subaru don't do it themselves..

furrydice79 26 October 2005 06:40 PM

nice work mate,,i done mine when i got it in march,, just make sure they are sealed properly as one of mine started to take water,, i soon sorted that out by opening it up again and using extra sealant,,,and just how nervous were you when you popped them in the oven, i was bricking it, opening the leaking one the second time i decided to use a hairdryer and it worked fine too..

Got Austen_wrx to do my detangoing, as my own attempt, I ended up melting my headlight as the oven got to hot.

Must have been the most expensive de-tango in history.

I think Austen has done it so many times now, he can do it with one hand and with his eyes shut. :)

De-tangoed cars just look so much better than stock!

Why oh Why don't they come like that as standard?

The mesh grill is just the standard one, took it off and painted it white just to be a wee bit different. :)

Hi, my thoughts exactly about the wr1 mesh and other mesh kits, i dont like the way it is lazily designed to sit right at the front. It almost looks like ab afterthougth, 'cos they thought it was too much hassle to set it back a bit. I'm going to try t tackle this job also at some point.
Cheers :)
