Not gonna be good reading for ya but I (Ford main dealer salesman) priced up a 05 DCCD STI a guy wanted to trade in, it was mint with about 7k on it and I spent days calling Scoob garages all over the northwest and the very best I got offered was 17k. Obviously these used dealers throw at least 3 grand over these cars and sell them at a huge proffit but I think yours is about right at that money. It has to be said that the whole car market at the moment is very weak.

I'm just about to sell my Civic Type R and I think I'm just gonna have to come up with a reasonable figure and then be prepared to wait or drop it by 500 for a deal. About 11,499 for a mint 03 with 17 thousand on the clock.

The chap with the STI saw his arse on the trade in price, needless to say (I was already taking 3k off a Mondeo so couldn't do much more for him). It just seems that when you buy this sort of car you have to prepared to be dry bummed when it comes to selling. Petrol and general high running costs seem to be to blame alot at the moment. Evos are even worse. Most FQs drop about 10-12 grand in the first year. Its scary stuff but if your passionate about cars (like me) it's just one of those things you have to live with.

Long post over :-)

yep scoobs aren't the type of car to get bored of quickly and sell frequently IMO.
i'll probably keep mine 4 years from new before changing (unless petrol reaches £3/litre) in which case i'll keep it and buy a 2nd hand golf tdi to use most of the time

Faitha 2 B 25 October 2005 04:29 PM

Your both absolutely correct guys, Thanks.

DonnieDarko 25 October 2005 04:42 PM

so why sell it? sounds a cracking car. if i had 2-3 grand spare, i'd get motorpoint to take back my dubiously un-warrantied new wrx import and buy it off you...but i havent :(

Faitha 2 B 25 October 2005 05:02 PM

Long story short mate -

Buying something more suitable for impending family addition.

Just looking to avoid giving the BMW dealer 2 bites at my cherry.

Wont have it long either way as new mota is due soon.

I know i'm losing loads, and it stings, but would have thought my price would have tempted someone, after all its a lot of 'new car' for not a lot of lolly.

Cheers, F2B. :)
