Blueyonder - wow what an upgrade that was
Blueyonder upgraded my 1Mb account to a 4Mb at no extra charge the other week. I'm now getting on average 420k download speed and a max I've seen of 520k :D
Not bad for £25 a month, I could pay £35 and get a 10Mb service! Don't seem that long ago I was sitting here on my 28k modem listening to it dialing up and getting around 2k on a download. |
I'm already on the 4MB service, waiting for my upgrade to 10MB which should happen in November / December :)
Should see average downloads of 1MB per second :D :D |
I was on the 2MB service, now its 10MB! What a difference.
Just like when i sold my 206 and bought my scooby =) |
I've got 10 now and it's fab.
You don't get 10 from a lot of places but it's good to know that you're pulling it down as fast as they'll give you it!! :D |
mine is the 10mb connection but when on the internet its quite slow still but good for downloading, i downloaded 4 full dvds 19gig for all and it only took 5 hours :D

Central Scotland and it's 2.2 meg and that's it :(
|
Wooohoooo i'll be up for a bit of the 10mb upgrade then... Had 2mb sinse it came out but 10.... hells teeth...
Is it a big improvment guys or what???? daz |
Now it's mostly site dependant, if they can;t give it to you any faster it won't make any difference.
I use this ona regular basis: http://www.broadbandspeedtest.net/ and for the downloads from their test pool, the highest I've had is 8Mb/s |
Grrr, I'm still wainting for our area to be upgraded :(

They upgrade me (BY) to 10Mb a few weeks ago, but performance is very sporadic to say the least. I've used BY for the past 5 years and it has never failed to deliver the bandwidth, but since the upgrade it's fallen way short of what I had expected. Maybe it's just highlighting the fact that not many places out there can deliver at 10Mbps. I'm currently downloading some Linux distributions from a German site at 5Mbps, so at least it still blazingly fast. |
Isn't BY n NTL cable n alike capped though?
|
BY have never been capped - and claim they never will... NTL are capped.
Quite how this leaves us BYers when the NTL/BY merger goes through we'll have to see. Anyway - roll on the end of this month when my 10Mb upgrade happens. I'm having my cable-router changed tomorrow as it 'only' has a 10baseT LAN port, and the upgrade will exhaust that - so the new one has 100baseT! Shades |
