this tree is taller than the house.. and probably 30ft away... no thanks!

its probably 2ft in dia and grass verge surrounds it.. so dont think killing it is on the cards.. had considered it though!

In my experience they are not interested. Had the tree guy out to us before and his response was "Pruning them just makes them grow more you know" and he left again. If it is over your property, write them giving them 14 days to prune the overhanging branches otherwise state you will do it. Ask them where they want the branches delivered (you have to return them by law, and while there may be a sense of satisfaction dumping them in front of the council offices, this is likely to be short lived - trust me :D )

Had a quick look on google and found this for you

http://www.leeds.gov.uk/fol/trees_law.html#neg

"In the case of damage believed to be caused by Council owned trees, you should contact Leisure Services forestry team officers on (0113) 237 5221"

By law you can prune any branches that overhang your property if the tree owner doesn't after having been asked (hence the letter bit). However, by law you have to return to the owner and branches or fruits that you do prune off their tree. In my case it was suggested that I throw them over the fence back in to the cemetery in future.

Haven't you got enough torque to pull it out of the ground?
