Audi A4 TDi around an R plate. 80-100k can be had for around 4k. I also looked into this... then bought an STi. lol aahh well :)

Or a similar age Passat or Golf estate with the 110bhp TDi motor. Might be worth looking at an early Octavia hatch as the boot is huge even with the seats up and massive with them down.

There's a very good reason why cabbies love their Octavia diesels :)

And £350 gets you a remap to 130bhp and 200+ ft-lb of torque too.

Peugeot 406 HDi...

W124 E Class Benz, they never, ever break and the rear is cavenous:thumb:

My '86 250TD is up to 185k miles now and is still going like a good 'un, there's no rot in her anywhere, rides like a magic carpet, handles better than you'd believe possible, and does mid 40's to the gallon, all day, every day:thumb:

And the best bit, In my 18 months of ownership, driving mainly during peak times on busy roads, I've been hit by: a Citroen Picasso, an Audi A4, a Vectra, and an Astra, all have sustained marked panel damage, yet the Benz doesn't even bear any paint transfer scarring:D

W124 Benz? Reckoned to be THE best built car in the world at the time ... certainly don't build 'em like that these days :)

How does the 250TD perform? Is yours with a slushbox?

It's a manual:thumb: and being naturally aspirated, it doesn't exactly 'perform', but it will give a chavved up 1.2 Corsa/Saxo/Punto a run for it's money at the lights;) It'll rock along smoothly and silently at 85-90 on motorways, and once you learn to trust the front end, i.e: get used to the steering never weighting up, it'll turn in to corners pretty sharpish at  speeds too:D

It's a seven seater too, but if you remove the fold out seat base from under the load bay floor, you've got a nice lockable chest to keep power tools out of sight:)

Can't dispute the 'best built' tag either, it's the German equivalent of Irn Bru:D

come on someone must have thoughts on it lol!!

No mention of FSH, just 'service history'

With only 84k on the clock I'd expect it to have FSH if not F(VAG)SH

Portakabin 'sales office' hmmm!

Edited to say:

Saying that it looks nice, but then they normally do in the pics. Would go to a VAG garage and see how far they can trace the history too, might throw up a suprise or two, alternatively it may validate its mileage to a degree, ie if it has service history up to 80,000/2001 I doubt its only done another 4k in 5 years - does that make sense????

lol yeah I know, just not many estates out there that appeal to me after the scoob.

I still have the scoob at the moment and keep having these " should i just keep it" thoughts!!

I also have my reputation in these parts to uphold, always been lucky enough to have nice cars so can imagine the "wow he used to have a scoob now look at the ****box he has...drug trade must be slowing down "
