Got the horn?

I have bought a pair of horns (coz the old ones sounded like noddys horn and was too embarising to press). I am struggling to find a place to put them in the engine bay. The old ones were behind the grill and behind the passenger headlight, but neither of these places are big enough for the new ones. The ones I bought are like snail shells and are quite alot fatter than the old ones. Any ideas or pics of where to put them on a 95 WRX or similar? |
I've got a pair of airhorns, their compressor and their relay hanging from a custom made bracket which is held in place by the front battery clamp nut, and the bits hang behind the n/s headlight.

That do you? The alloy plate on top carries the relays and auxilliary fusebox, the Ally "L" bracket is UNDER it on the same bolt. You can just see the bolt at bottom left of the LH realy marked "Air horns". Alcazar |

It's made of a piece of 1" aluminium alloy angle from B&Q, or Wickes, with part ground away to accomodate the battery clamp, and a hole drilled in for the battery clamp threaded rod to pass through. Cost me about £5 for the angle and about £2 for bolts, washers etc. Get stainless ones if you can. I then drilled holes as appropriate for the three bits to hang on........two holes IIRC as the horns were on a sort of bracket thingy already. If you look at mine, you'll see it's actually about 50mm too long as well. Anyway, it means the whole assembly can be removed by undoing one nut. Has to, you can't change a bulb without;) Alcazar |
