A panel filter alone will not give big enough gains to be noticable. We're talking maybe a couple of BHP here and there. It's usually just the minor component of a more substantial upgrade e.g. panel filter, decat exhaust and remap on SUL.

I got great satisfaction replacing the nasty restrictive looking OE item with the nice free-flowing Green one.

I can sometimes actually hear the air being sucked in now when I first put my foot on the accelerator.

Absolutely no noticeable increase in power.

oh right cool cheers guys

yeah need a new exhaust just no funds at the mo

then a re map i think just need 2 save the pennys instead of spending them on petrol all the time

it would be better than a standard fillter tho yeah??

Yes. Scoobymag recently tested the Green filter, Sti filter and Std WRX filter against one another and the green filter came out on top, though as I said, we're only talking about a couple of bhp. Its just that you can't just change one component and expect big gains- the panel filter is only one part of a larger equation, the best gains are to be had from combining the right components and then remaping the car to take the changes into account. Regrettably, when it comes to the power game, it all costs!!! :)

When you have forced induction ie. turbo, I don't think a filter can make much differrence. If you boosting at 16psi , then thats it, end of story. Your not going to get 17 psi with a different filter

I put one in mine to replace an STi filter.. so, so thin though, hold it up to the light and you can see right through it.. no doubt flows better than the OE item, wonder how effective it is at filtering though..
