Looking for a little advice

Hi Guys

I currently own a John Cooper Works 210hp MINI, nice quick car, but too small for my requirements right now. We've just had a 3rd child and need a four door with enough room for us all! Thought I may look at my options on a WRX, version 8 (?), at about £15k... if anyone fancies a swap, let me know :D

Anyway, was after a few bits of information if anyone could be so kind -

.. Rearbelts - 3 full belts or is the centre belt a lap belt?

.. MPG expectant.. The MINI averages anything between 17-23, I'm expecting the the same from a Scooby unless severley provoked :D

.. Insurance, again the MIN is an 18, I'm guessing a Scoob is 18-20 dependent on model?

.. How pricey is servicing on them?

.. Standard warranty 3 or 5 years?

.. Any specific Scoob garages (Web addys) worth a peek at

Any advise/help would be most appreciated :D

Mine's a MY01 WRX:
- I think 3 full belts, IIRC. ISOFIX points though.
- 20-25mpg average. Less if 'provoked' http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/images/icons/icon12.gif, 30ish mpg if <80mph on m/way
- Just had 30k service (fairly big, though no cambelt change), ~£430
- 3 year standard warranty, can be extended
- Shop around amongst main dealers, prices and servicing costs vary greatly
- Try and buy with PPP (was free for a while on new cars)
- Or import a UK car from Europe and save £4-5k, (just a thought)

Rich.

3 full belts
About the same MPG as the MINI by the sounds of it
Not that sure on insurance but should be around there
Servicing is a bit on the steep side if you go to a dealer
3 year warranty
Most dealers will be discounting brand new ones soon because of the new model

3-3 point rear seltbelts and isofix mounts

MPG poor

Insurance is and arm and a leg

Subaru dealers cost a fortune to service them

Warrenty from new is 3 years or 1 year with Subaru approved.....I think

Standard Newage WRX will feel slower then the Cooper S, it has about 225PS as standard and its a fat b@stard car, to keep the warrenty then the dealer fit PPP is the only option. Or an STi.

Thanks for the great info Guys :)

£430 for a service

I paid £100 for MINI TLC cover, thats 5 years or 50,000 miles worth of servicing... bit of a difference eh?! :D

Off to the stealers sometime this week to see what sort of insulting offer they make me on the MINI, then we can laugh at them and tell them the true worth...

Thanks again for the info, very much appreciated... guess I shouldn't buy little cars if I want 3 kids

That was for the 30k service which included diff/geabox oil, most 'fluids', etc. A fairly 'biggy' out of the Scoob services, probably only surpassed in terms of £££'s by the 50k/60k which includes the cambelt.

Still a feckin lot of cash though, I agree!

:eek2:
