Scraped my Scoob
 

Wasn't paying attention when backing out of my drive and I've scraped the front bumper on the passenger side against a brick pillar. Can't buff this one out, the bricks have left gauges in the bumper, removing the paint, and some of the plastic, scratch is about 8 inches long.

It's an 04 WRX, black ... so the scratch looks REALLY bad!

I'm fukcing gutted. The scratch is only on the bumper, thank God nothing else was affected, what am I looking at to repair? I have no idea of the cost. New bumper? Or call one of those dent guys? Bear in mind it is new so I don't want a crummy job done.

A.) Fill and repair (not sure I want to do this).
B.) New bumper (not sure I want to read this :cry: )

Body shop IMO. Cost about £200

how bad? try chips away, they can get rid of some scratches. is it down to paint or just lacker?

I take it you meant gouges as in cuts.

As has been said, contact dentmaster etc. before remortgaging for a new bumper.

when you said scrape, you meant a big scrape :(
so forget chips away, they wont be able to fix that
dentmaster do dents, not scapes so they wont be able to do it.
so that leaves you 2 choices, a full bodyshop to respray or someone like

Little knocks.They do scrapes,dents etc.
So it depends on where you are in the country, but you need someone like the to do it IMHO

Try a few local bodyshops for quotes and see what they say. Phone a few breakers yards and find out the cost of a second hand bumper and having that sprayed too. Although having it repaired will probably be the cheapest.

I cracked my front splitter the other day. The sound is almost as bad a kerbing your nice new alloys!! Good luck with it!

another one to try would be chipsaway...

i had them out for a key mark which started at my front light and went just onto the rear bumper.

They sprayed roughly an inch either side of the mark and it was perfect, i could not fault there work at all

Cheers guys, I'm in Weybridge, South East, may try Littleknocks but I've contacted Chips-Away already so hopefully they will have a look and say yes.

The nasty bit was I didn't even know I'd done it! Had the radio up so didn't hear anything, didn't feel anything. Then work colleague saw it and said "When did you do that?" "What?" I said, "THAT!" he said, took a look and suddenly the start of a normal day had turned to sh1t. Evidence of black streaks on my bricks when I got home confirmed I have the driving prowess of Stevie Wonder! :freak3:

(And what's worse is my mate fell off his bike the other week (only hurt his pride), bike cost him £400 to repair, and mates being mates, we took the p1ss out of him for days! - Now it's my turn!)

Youll be a lot better off with littleknocks for this; rather than chips away...

plastic aint a problem, they use a flexible filler to fill in anything to deep on plastic, ive done the chips away corse less than a year ago, after seeing the repair i had done, i was well impressed, i nearly took on a francise.

Please note though, like anything, the repair will only be as good as the person that does it, but if your not happy, they will get it sorted..

Done exactly the same (early morning reversing, still asleep!) as this but in my old Saab. Had a Quote of £150 from a midlands based bodyshop, if like mine (scrape against bricks) the chipsaway type companys are just the same if not more.

With the body shop they would spray the whole bumper.

Didn't have it done though, traded the car in for my Subaru.

I done exactly the same backing out of my mums drive I was gutted:cry: but both my boys work in a bodyshop and my eldest son took it in and got it done for me.

I would of though a bit of filler + £150 quid later should be good as new...

With great thanks to Andrew at Chips-Away in Woking. I cannot fault his work, it looks perfect, cannot see any sign of the old scar.

Black mica as well, he showed me the different colours that go into making the paint.

£130, money well spent (on a 1 year old car! - scrape was as long as my hand and three fingers tall).
