Hello

I taught a course in Delhi, and I have to say that I had the worse case of diarrhea than any other place I have visited (including others in India).

Still, the Taj Mahal is only a few hours away if you have the weekend free.

I was there last October. I stayed at the Maurya Sheraton, which I recommend. If you don't stay there at least try one of their restaurants called the Bukhara.

There is a lot to see and do while you are there. Hire a guide and driver for a couple of days. You won't regret it.

As for avoiding Delhi Belly, do the following. Eat freshly cooked food, which means embracing the local cuisine. Never ever eat from a buffet, which is what a lot of hotels provide for their western guests. Warm reheated food is guaranteed to make you ill. As for fruit, if you can't peel it, don't eat it. Also be very wary of salads. Always drink bottled water. Don't put ice in your drinks, unless you can guarantee that it was made from bottled water. And wash your hands at every opportunity.

Otherwise it is a great place. Agra is 2 hours by train from Delhi. If you get the chance go to Jaipur.

Have a good time.
