Look; Ive taken the bait..... VTA 'dump-valves' do little for your car beyond making a stupid attention seeking noise. Unless you car is making well in excess of 300bhp then the standard airbox wont be causing any restriction.

Hope that this helps.

I would say standard dump valve and APS induction kit(with remap) in my opinion

Totally agree, dump valve great for noise, standard factory fit unit is good for its job. depends on your car for induction kit, Newage don't like them, leans off too much...big problems unless mapped specifically for it,ie engine damage.Better with good quality panel filter.
Hope it helps

General consensus is STi panel filter or green cotton filter. Induction kit only if you're going big BHP and getting re-mapped for it. And if its a MY99/00 then forget about induction kit due to MAF sensitivity! (Or re-map to GEMS which gets rid of MAF).

VTA dump valve........my car had one on when I bought it, read into it and decided to go back to OEM recirc.......noticed absolutely no difference except for lack of noise (which I now miss)!! I would go back to VTA just for the noise - there is no other reason (unless you want 400bhp + apparently)!

Bailey DV usually pretty cheap on here occasionally, heard that HKS SSQV is a good one though and turbomart are loud (but not cheap).

Expect to pay £30 ish for filter (second hand hardly any use) and £50-£100 for VTA (second hand).

i have a k&n panel filter but was going to get an induction kit for the sound, if there not good for the car then i wont bother,
the dumb valve was for the noise also, if it wont harm the car then whats best? dont want nothing over the top, just quiet normal drivin but if i open it up will make a decent sound

If you want noise - Remove the resonator box under your front bumper infront of the drivers side wheel

(do a search there is few threads on it)
