How Scoobyclinic Looked After My Car
 

I am writing this as I want to tell you Scoob owners who have not been to Scoobyclinic how they do perform and how they do look after there customers.
After having the 2.5 engine fitted at Scoobyclinic the thing is finally run in. So popped up to SC on Thursday and had a gearbox change. (6 speed) after discussing it with a few companies who all recommended an Uprated 5 speed or a UK 6 speed I plumbed for the 6 speed as this worked out much cheaper for me.
Day 1. Out came the Type R box with front and center diff and in went the 6 speed. Oil change and a check over the car.
Day 2. Ultronic ECU fitted and car goes on rollers to get mapped. After some time of mapping they were ready for a power run at 1 bar of boost as expected the car gave 350 bhp and 350 ft lbs torque Check the car over again then lift the boost slightly. This time the car started to scream a bit a little too early. Yes the clutch had given up. They lads adjusted the clutch but to no avail it still slipped. Dam.
The boss (Kev) was called who popped in looked at it and said get it in the garage whip the gearbox out and we will have a look. In 20 mins the Gearbox was out and clutch taken apart. It was decided the clutch although still not half worn could just not handle this sort of power. As the torque came in (rather quickly) the clutch just could not handle it. When the flywheel came out you could cook bacon on it.
Kev said looks like you will have to buy a clutch Bob pick one out the store you can have it at cost and of course there will be no labor charges. Asked the lads which clutch was best and it was decided I go for the HKS twin plate job, it was the dearest but as I was getting it cost what the hell.
Clutch was fitted gearbox back in and back to the rollers. The process of coming off the rollers fitting a clutch and going back on the rollers took an hour. These boys certainly know there stuff.
This time no clutch slip and the boost was gradually increased I did mention to the mappers I did not want to go above 1.3 bar as this was a fig recommended by the PowerStation Guys.
Next run we got 305.4 BHP at the wheels.

I really thought this was enough as the car has also got to be reliable and a daily runner. Then up on the screen came the fly wheel figs 382.2 bhp and 380 ft lbs torque.

I was well happy with this. The lads took the car out on the road for final mapping and that was it all finished.
I had a very exciting drive home the car just pulls and pulls. In 6 gear a quick blast on an empty stretch of motorway and in no time I was doing well I won’t say but it was very very fast. Dropped on the A38 at Glou and came back on the A & B roads. Bloody hell this thing is fast and the grip I got was very good compared to the DCCD I had the day before. What the lads would have though of it when it was a proper Type R I don’t know but I bet it would have frightened them to death. But the lads at SC are right I do need a softer set of tyres.
I will be sending mail to Scoobyclinic thanking them for the great transformation they have done to my car, I am very very happy with it and a small tip will go to the lads who work there, perhaps on Chinese day dinner hour they can all have a curry on me. These lads are great and always willing to chat and explain things and after spending a few days there watching them work on my car and others, I can see they all put there heart into it and really look after the customers cars even when the customer is not there.
BTW The coffee machine works wonderfully.

How you finding the 6 speed box? I would have thought with the extra Torque a 5sp box would be less manic, if you know what I mean. My Old 02STiUK needed 6sp as it only had a small power Band :(

I just love this 6 speed box The first 5 gears seem to be about the same as the Type R's but 6th takes you on to 174 mph...:)

As the car was in a few bits anyway, probally. Basically your local Subaru dealer would have charged as though they had to strip it down for each job. They haven't. Fair play :)

As they had put the gearbox in only the day before I think it was straight forward for the lads. Saying that I think they did a very quick and wonderfull job.
The car went on the ramps and I walked to the stores with a few lads to pick a clutch. Had a chat about clutches and picked the twin plate we walked back with the twin plate and the gearbox was on the jack and the flywheel was just being taken off. As quick as that belive me.
Don't think Kev will be charging an hours labour for clutches though.:)

As the clutch was slipping at 15:30 I thought it would be a come back tomorrow but no it was get it done now...

Had the car a year now. It popped the bigend 2 months ago. It was then a decision to scrap it or spend money on it. You know the rest..:)

P.S I agree about the drinks machine makes a lovely hot chocolate.

If you dont mind me asking...how much did it cost to get the engine rebuilt and where did u get it done?

It was a pleasure to have you at the clinic it's great for us to get customers that are down to earth and enjoy thier cars as much as we do,you must have tried all of the flavours in the drinks machine any favourites? lol

I hope you don't mind me saying this but Bob (bless him) called up today and arranged it for ALL of the lads to have a Chinese meal at work this Friday It was such a nice gesture it really did touch the lads and give us all a great feeling of job satisfaction, again thank you Bob :thumb:
