Need some help!! info on the type RA required!!
Ok i m looking into getting a Type RA Impreza but am wanting to do my home work before i buy one!
What did subaru do to it to make it 280bhp from the standard 215bhp? Is the engine stronger than a standard impreza? What are peoples views and experiences with them? Cheers guys and gals hope to become a fully fledge member very soon!! |
215 bhp indicates a UK car; all Type-RAs are Japanese imports with either 240 PS; 260PS or 280 PS. Early RAs have a closed deck block, but other than that all JDM and UK cars have similar internals other than the pistons (forged in STIs).
Theres a lot of confusion over Type-RAs; they were the cheapest cars in the WRX range rather than topping it. Simon |

Sti's on which the ra is based have 280bhp as standard.uk cars have 215bhp.Think i'm right in saying RA has a closed deck block, and I think closer gear ratios.A bit raw for some people due to lack of soundproofing etc. Colin |
whats a closed deck block?

Liners not exposed giving a better gasket sealing surface.

After 6 years of scooby ownership i now run a 99 sti ra....it is definately a very focused piece of machinery.......no abs, diff control, gearing, lack of soundproofing.....etc
I,m glad i owned uk models before the ra rather than jumping in at the deep end with a jdm model. The performance and driving experience is exhilarating :notworthy and in a different league to my previous vehicles. :freak3: |
ok cheers guys... guess jumping in the deep end will be fun!!
Will be back on here once i ve got her!! |
