Hmm....a saturday meet!

Excellent count me in....

oooooh is Mell Yell coming. Excellent I can have a closer look at his machine, rather than the tail pipe view I got last time on the M62 http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif

OK I was out of gas......Well that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it.

Hopefully it will be back from the Doctors by then with a fully bill (haahaaa) of health, and some nice shiny bits http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/cool.gif

See you there...

Mark

Hi,

I've been looking at the maps trying to find a good route. There seems to be 2 options.

1. Standard run through the lakes. Good roads but possibly slow progress if its a fine day.

2. Do the Buttertubs pass run. Which has been talked about for a while.

Suggestions are welcome on which route people would prefer. I'll be trying to make sure that either route will be about 80-100 miles from Kendal to the stop for lunch. I'll also try and make sure that their is a petrol station close by for those with STI's (or very heavy right foots http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif ). I'll be carrying some octane booster if only unleaded is available.

To ensure that we don't cause too much chaos (and possibly spoil it for everybody in the future) The run will be in the format of a quick blast (1/2 mile) followed by a slower period then another quick blast etc. The reason for this is that I have noticed that the runs seem to be getting faster and faster. Since we are on public roads I for one do not want to organise the first run with a fatality (god I must be getting old, hold on just go and get my pipe and slippers http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif )

As Munna said we'll be testing the route this weekend so please tell me whether you prefer option 1 or 2. Or I'll choose option 2 http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif

PS: Maps of the route will be provided on the day so hopefully we won't get lost http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif

PPS: Can this post be moved to the Northern Meets forum?

oooooh I saw the Buttertubs on some Top Gear prog, with Clarkson in a Cos~thingymawatsit. Looks an excellent road. Does it get as busy as the Lakes though ?

How far is it from Kendle area ?

Mark,

From what I can tell its about 20-30 miles east from Kendal. And I don't think its one of the tourist routes so should be quieter than the lakes. Ideal me thinks http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif

Oh bugger! I'm away rallying in Yorkshire that day! http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/frown.gif

Blackscooby 20 September 2000 10:18 PM

DaveW,
Yep just found it on Great Shunner Fell.

Yep excellent spot. I can HIGHLY recommend the route Horton in Ribblesdale > Hawes. I know it well. Its my playground where I grew up http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif
A top motorbike / fast car route.

Mark.

DaveW 20 September 2000 10:22 PM

MarkF,

Ooops. Are you busy this weekend as we'll be going round the route so if you fancied a trip out http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif

DaveW

MarkF 20 September 2000 10:27 PM

Dave, your timing is not very good, mate! This weekend i'm going to look after a 106 getting some test miles in on the Sweet Lamb stages. Won't be back until late Sunday night.

DaveW 20 September 2000 10:49 PM

MarkF,

Not to worry we'll sort a day/night out mate and do a Buttertubs run. It will only take about 3 hours from Carlisle and back so we could do a run one night after work if your up to it http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif

Anyway as you know I'd like to set up a monthly run in and around the lakes for whoever can make it. So some routes will be used more than once http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif
