I've just bought a forge for my 03 WRX from E-bay, it was very gunged up. Have a look at yours. It was very easy to clean with a bit of WD40 and an allen key.

did you take it to bits and clean it befroe you fitted it?

or did you just spray it with wd40 whilst on the car.

ive just had a look and noticed some type of red jell stuff in the vents is this the type of stuff you mean?
thanks gaz.

I removed mine and then took it apart. Took about 15 mins in total. Be careful of the springs though. The stuff on mine was more like oil, maybe from the engine bay. Valve was definitetly sticking though.

Id like to remove it and block up the hole it leaves eventually but for the tyime being id like to know that its doing what its supposed to
