Millers CFS 10w40
Is this a sensible choice for my Scoob (T2000 UK standard)? I am worried cos Millers say it is for engines up to 1.6L. Anyone tried it or have any thoughts? It's £32 + vat for 5L.

I use it in my 03 STi and find no problems whatsoever. The blurb about its suitability is aimed toward competition use but it is perfectly suitable for everyday and fast road use. This oil tends to get ignored somewhat in the shadow of more "fashionable" products such as Motul or Silkolene - which are pushed on here and MANY other forums. As good as the imported stuff is, there is no reason that I can see not to use CFS as a perfectly good, ester based and cost effective, alternative.

Silkolene is not imported it's made in Stoke.

far better than a lot of well known "brands"..............though a small company in terms of OIL it allows them to be very specific with there products from a quality point of view..........

JohnD It does not stop there, the chemist behind it all is a chap called John Rowland, he has been a chief R&D lube chemist for over 40years, his back ground came from Rolls Royce engines, of course many aviation engines and he was one of the few directly responcible for bring that technology to the automotive industry, the use of esters etc. When it comes to oil, this guy has forgotten more than we will ever know, I spent a day with him recently in his lab, and well very interesting to say the least. Oh, and Americans dream of recipies like this. Cheers Simon. |
