Twin Turbo Prova ECU - Questions
 

Does anyone know how this ECU is tuned? Is it a standard map from Prova for the twin turbo. Any help would be appreciated.

Hope you've got a knocklink m8. 100RON is the diet it is looking for.

So this ECU is based on 100RON and 2.0 Liter Closed Deck correct?

We are just trying to find out what the ECU is capable of. We have a customer and his ECU got fried. We happen to have this one laying around and just want to know if it would work and what we need to do to make sure it will work in his vehicle.

Ive got one on mine. What makes you tyhink its for a twin turbo? It's a Z4 under that sticker. It runs a lot of advance on the timing. But it is one of the safer jap chips with a target boost of just over 16 psi. If you open it up theres an eprom chip on a stadard board. You can just rejoin the J1 resistor to take it back to standard. What model of car are you trying to put it on. Ive got it on a V2 jap spec sti. I dont know what that twin turbo is all about. Its a bit confusing that ecu having both GC8 and (Legacy) twin-turbo scribbled on it. Their respective ecus share the same PCB but have some different components loaded, so although this ecu will plug-up to either a GC8 or twin-turbo (93-96) harness it will only work in one (if your lucky). Have you had it working on anything?

The only reason I thought it was a twin turbo was because it said twin turbo on it. I could totally be wrong, don't really care just want to know what it is and what it can be used for.

The car we would like to install it on is a Version 2 STi RA, this is what our customer told us.

As for switching back to the stock map how would I go about doing that?

Peel that sticker back ( the prova one ) and tell me what it says underneeth

Looks like mine. This site tells you where the J1 resistor is. Bridge the gap where it has been remove to dissable the chip and return to standard

A u8 is off a 93ish wrx. It'll probably run on your RA but your performance will be a bit down(about 240ps) No wonder somone has tried to chip it up. A wondn't dare suggest that you run it with the chip active, because it could be running too much advance for the quality of fuel available to you

The customer is using the ECU for Rally Racing only, so they plan on using 103 race gas only.

I'd give give it a go if it was mine keeping a eye out for knocking if you can.

Last questions, I promise... :)

What is the resistors resistance. It looks lile Prova removed the resistor for the base map. Just wondering what the resistance is so i coudl wire up to stage maps.

you dont need a resistor.. its fine just to replace it with a wire.

You could always put a switch in place so you can alternate between maps.. thats what ive done :) (can use optimax and octane booster and just regular sul then depending which map you use)

Just a quick update.

The customer is running 101 octane race gas and loves the ECU. It is smooth and powerful through the whole power band. Much better than his old setup. He is going to be installing the switch later to run a 91 octane map for whatever he might need.
