Cant really say much about autronic or gems, but Omex is very flexable and will do anti lag. Motec also a good bet. How about AEM?

Cheers,

Ben.

omex is the cheapest so far ,£865 but i have been told by the omex rep that no one has yet fitted one to a scoob ??????and he would need the car for a few weeks to map it !!

Few weeks!! whose mapping it Stevie Wonder??

Assume it was a few weeks to make up loom adaptors etc??

I do hope that would mean it would be free as he would then be able to sell it on to everyone else..

Is OMEX not just out of date stuff from gems? probably more too it than that though...

I have gems on the road car, although it's a bit rough for most people it'd be fine on a rally car, what MY is it? when I got mine done anti lag wasn't available on anything older than a V5 (that was a couple of years ago).

Is it motec that charge for all the plug ins? like antilag and such, it might end up costing much more than the list price.

OMEX use GEMS technology under licence but don't have a range of 'implants' only stand-alone.......................

we have looked at using the new 700 series OMEX units with a view of developing a more cost effective unit than the likes of the GEMS, but to be honest by the time you add everything up that you need then the GEMS makes as much sense...........

have had a lot of discussion with OMEX as we are one of their agents and to my knowledge we were the only people looking at making adaptor looms, etc...............

Skip the bespoke stuff, too much hassle, go for PnP units like Motec, Autronic or APEXi powerFC.

the rep at omex told me that a 700 ecu with loom and progaming bits may take a bit of work to get it set up on the car as its never been done before using the origional cam timing sensor,
but he did say that(how do i say this) if i changed a cam pulley that did the timing ,took off the toothed part and fitted a more standard toothed unit to the pulley it should work spot on ???somehow,,, and this would only cost an extra £25 for this timing toothed part (sorry ime usless with engine terms !)
it sounds feasible but again ime going to need to map it etc !!!!

btw ,rb5_245,its a 1994 import

conrad,you may be right !!!!!!! ive a headache:cry:

I fitted a DTA P8pro ECU (very capable, all the features of other ECU's)to my scooby wagon project, complete with new wiring loom and new crank wheel (ford pattern). All working now but given the choice again I would fit an Autronic plug & play. Added advantage is that they come with base map that will start & run the engine. Saves all the headaches of getting a base map built to start it up.
