Average MPG
i am used to having trip computers in my car and of my last 3 cars ive averaged about:
31mpg - 206 gti 24mpg - astra turbo coupe 27mpg - clio 182 now i know i should get pretty crap mpg coz i only do 10 miles during weekdays (work and back, stop and start, never over 30mph) and then maybe 100 miles at weekends A-roads mainly, with the odd squeeze of throttle, but nothin silly. ive just worked out my mpg from the last fill up manually, 53 litres lasted 200 miles which i worked out at 17MPG! is this normal, what do people average in their scoobs? |

my STI w/PPP has 27000 miles, i filled up with 53litres of optimax as soon as the light came on. so i'm guessing i could have done another 25miles if i ran it dry.

sounds about right to me for urban driving,I can just about make 20 something mpg if i do along distance on motorway and OFF boost,Generally i get around 17-18mpg.
|
Not sure what I usually get around town (will have to work it out someday), but a recent trip across country saw me get 31.7mpg from a lightly-modded Scoob. I have seen it nearly down to single figures on a trackday though.
|
my old MY99 done anything between 15mpg up to 26mpg depending on how it was driven but probably averaged out about 20mpg
|
Cool, this week's mpg thread! :D
My wrx averaged 24.5 mpg pre-ppp (that's on about 10,200 miles). Post-ppp it's averaging 24.8 mpg (on about 3,100 miles). This includes long, boring motorway miles and too few b-road blasts. I've only gone (just) over 30 mpg twice (I keep record each time I fill up, as I'm sad). |
38mpg for me :D
Then again, I do know how to drive properly .......... remember, if you have to use the brakes you are wasting fuel and money!! So, think ahead and keep a good distance from the car in front!! Anyone getting less than 30mpg need to re-take their tests as they are clearly driving like a wally!! :D Pete |

So you can get 30+ MPG on a 3 mile (each way) run, and you never have to replace your pads, wow I'm seriously impressed. |
This old chessnut.
Standard bugeye WRX Normal driving = 22-24mpg Motorway driving (<=3k rpms or 78mph) = 28-30mpg Fast/aggresive driving = 18-22mpg |

Can usually get 230-250 from a full tank on a long run if the right foot takes a rest. 200-220 is about the norm for me. If I have to fill up below 200 miles you can guarantee I've enjoyed myself somewhere along the line. I think about 160 is my record so far :D |
Standard WRX Bugeye. I have averaged 32MPG a few times - mix of driving and some fast boosty blasts when driving conditions and traffic flows worthwhile - but no short stop start journeys. Usual average around 27-29MPG. Latest was all the way back from Penzance to High Wycombe - 31MPG with fully laden heavy luggage and three occupants with air con on for about 50% of time - I think that's reasonable.
PS LEWIS does make a good point about driving sensibly and planning ahead - but I seriously doubt I would get anywhere near 38MPG whatever I did. Might try one day though if I can stay awake. |
I've got an my03 sti ppp and depending on driving conditions I've managed a low - but fun - 80 miles to a tank (promise it was on a track) to 330 miles on an 85 mph motorway cruise
|
i get between 15-23mpg depending on style of driving.
|
I've never had more than 23MPG from my my02STI PPP. And that was trying really hard on a good run.
I average between 16 and 19 on my 12 mile round trip to work. |
my p1 i get about 14 to 18 mpg. cruising at low speeds i get..........what am i on about cruising,if i wanna cruise i ll buy a mondeo!!.
|
who cares ? drive the car and fill it up when needed. I worked mine out once on a long trip keeping below 5k rpm and less than half throttle and got 23 mpg (it was a really boring trip suffice to say). Did it just out of morbid curiosity, but I never bought it for it's mpg, just as a play thing to p*ss off BMW and Audi TT drivers.

Good 'ole scoobynet and daily MPG debates :D
|
24-28 mpg for me, 20 the first week I had it!
Unmolested UK MY00. |
My record was just under 180 miles from a full tank, so hats off to you!! http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/images/icons/icon7.gif
I'd never get anywhere near 38mpg, not a chance. 31mpg was my best, driving to Windsor and back at 75mph. Needless to say I was bored sh1tless. If I tried to get 38mpg I'd end up falling asleep at the wheel and upside down in a ditch - thereby ending my "max mpg test".
